RIP Lou Reed

“Transformer,“ produced by David Bowie, in 1972, included “Perfect Day,” and “Walk on the Wild Side,” arguably his best-known song, an ode to the underground sex- and drug-fueled lifestyle of a cross-dresser, with brooding lyrics and a thumping drum-and-bass shuffle. Finding your way

Google’s latest effort to show the human side of their apps comes in the form of this short film about Saroo Brierley, a man who was separated from his mother at age 5 and used the Google Map app to find her 26 years later. Events not to be missed (and a site to match)

Site SPOTTED. Lincoln Center | White Lights Festival. With both responsive design and a new minimalist movement taking hold in web design today, this site for the 2013 White LIghts Festival at New York’s Lincoln Center is a fine example of solid design at work. From the simple homepage with a dynamic vertical roll of striking event photography to the hidden event subnavigation bar at the site’s left margin, the content is perfectly organized and presented. Very few page types here (another good idea for both aesthetic continuity and site functionality). Copy in all cases is straight-forward and easy-to-digest. Darker color palette for the site in general and featured photographs adds dramatic effect as well as allows the information to stand out. Definitely worth checking out. And while you’re on the site, why not order a few sets of tickets? A little culture is always good for soul…
