The power of the series
Valentino Fall/Winter 2014-2015 campaign featuring Ine Neefs, Josephine van Delden, Maartje Verhoef and Harleth Kuusik. Photographed by David Bailey in his signature portrait style.
Nice set of legs… Britain by Cadillac, now on view at Somerset House, London feature iconic fashion photographer’s Guy Bourdin’s 1979 seminal road trip of Britain to shoot an advertising campaign for Charles Jourdan. Bourdin dispensed with the use of a model employing a pair of mannequin legs, cut off just below the knee. “She” is only a hint of a woman, and yet in each situation in which Bourdin placed her she becomes a complete character within a story, told around many iconic British landmarks such as a Brighton seafront, an English rose garden, a taxi rank and Battersea Power Station. You just have to love the brilliance of Bourdin…
A.P.C. Spring 2015 collection featuring Carmen Cass and Dennis Van Steenwinkel. Photographed by Walter Pfeiffer.
Prada 2015 Menswear. Gone are the vintage prints and colors that only Miuccia can conjure up. “Uniform, severe, elegant. This is the fashion I like at this moment.” So loyal legions will soon embrace the dark side (black, blue, gray). Camel provides the only beacon of light in this new manifesto.
Plain, simple & utilitarian… Prada Pre-Fall 2015. “Why can’t we have the same thing for women as for men? Known and simple things. Really, that is what I like. Easier to do than ‘fashion.’”
Liz Taylor, bundled up for the winter winds, 1963.
