All signs (or at least many) point upward… Stuart Elliott on projected increased marketing budgets for some of the mega brands. Time will tell but hopefully, companies, both small and large, will start to invest in both marketing for shorter-term sales and longer-term positioning.

Barneys meets the Big Easy… Barneys New York Spring 2012 Men’s Collection: N’Awlins by Juergen Teller. The New York retailer goes outside the (studio) box to showcase its new men’s designer collections. Shot by renowned photographer, Juergen Teller, the shots are both refreshingly less squeaky clean than the usual (retail/catalog) studio shots and take full advantage of both the grittiness and eclectic color palette of the city. Clothes and styling are roguish, unexpected, a little rebellious—a slash of turquoise down a tuxedo pant, a double-breasted jacket in a bold graphic print, the silver high-tops that take to Miss Pussycat’s Puppet Studio just as well as they do to the city streets.
