Here’s to the ladies… Getty Images with Sheryl Sandberg’s LeanIn.org launches the Lean In Collection featuring more than 2,500 photos of female leadership in contemporary work and life. The new collection grew out of a Getty Images study that tracked the changes in the representation of girls and women in the media. The new photography features women in key roles, both expected and unexpected (but all very contemporary vs. usual stock schlock), while addressing diversity issues including race, age, family situation, and careers. Men generally are in either supporting or non-traditional roles. The initiative is slated to be an on-going effort. Although we’re admittedly not huge fans of Ms. Sandberg or her Lean In book/movement (sorry), it’s about time someone committed to some contemporary and positive imagery that portrays women today. You also might think about chucking all the old dated, corny and often offensive stuff while you’re at it. But here’s to some fresh thinking and important first steps. Onward (or lean in)…
